ReEnergized

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while but, it's been a busy quarter, as I'm sure it's been for all of you. I have great and exciting news for the Graphic Novel Club this week! We will be having a Webinar with Wildstorm Comics Editor Shannon Denton! I'm sure you have received the Evite for it from Santosh. I would love to have everyone that is interested to be there.
Also the past two weeks showed to be very uneventful, I want to be sure we are ready because we are reaching the end of the line this quarter.

For all of you who don't already know, there is a "Goodies" Folder in the "Graphic Novel Club" folder on the Kong, it is filled with all kinds of interesting and educational files. There are copies of Draw Magazine (PDF) and some Andy Kubert stuff which will definately help anyone who may be interested!

disassembling

Meaning the club....it's ok though the less people there are, the more pages per story and less work for me! But seriously, if anyone who hasn't showed up and want to be featured in the Graphic Novel needs to let me know, either at school, or comment the blog, or my email address is on the blog to the right--->

Santosh has been at the meetings for the past two weeks now and Christian (Sculpture Instructor) was there the week prior. they have had a lot of good information and goodies, so if you ain't there you're missing out.

So far there are a couple people that have already finished their covers. It's still on the move just minus a few.

Confusion?

Well, first of all i'd like to make something clear...This week we came up with a theme, but before I go into detail with that I want everyone to know if you have an original idea, Go for it. everyone else who wants to go with a Theme can. I still want everyone to do what they want to do. Anyway, this week went pretty well. I showed everyone the special program we can use for the paneling of the pages. There were a couple of people this week that were not here last week. so we did a minor overview. I urge everyone to bring in there ideas, stories, drawing, or character designs. We are definitely going to start next week. I want everyone to work together, and work in your groups. Let's get shit done. Printing will start week 8, so we have six weeks. Next week I would like to see what your stories are about, just bring a short synopsis ( if you don't know what that means google it.) and if you don't have a story or a writer, sketch out some thumbnails of some cool ideas. See ya next week!

Blank Page

Well, first of all I wanted to thank everyone who came to the very first meeting of the Graphic Novel Club It went very well, It was a full house (we might need a bigger room) and those of you who couldn't make it, I hope to see you at our next meeting. So, to recap throughout the meeting we were writing ideas on the board for the name of the graphic novel. There were a lot of good and funny ideas. then everyone wrote there names on the board to show whether they wanted to write or draw. Most of everyone there found a partner to work with, so again it went quite well. We decided that the cover of the graphic novel will be somewhat of a contest. Each team will come up with a cover most likely based on their story but, really what ever they want. Then shortly before publishing we will vote for which will make the front cover, the good part is that no one actually loses, the rest of the cover ideas will become internal covers for each story. We also decided that each story will get 2 pages front and back giving them a total of 4 pages! Then last, but certainly not least we voted on the name....The top 3 were "Gallery X" "Awesome Sauce" and "Blank Page". The final tally turned out to be "Blank Page" so again thank you all and remember to bring your ideas, stories, and drawing next week.

Only The Beginning...

I would like to inform everyone that the G.N. Club meetings will be held every week on Friday's at 4:30-6:00 in ( I think) Room 153 the Interior Design drafting room which is at the west end of the hall in building 1. I would like to vote for Officers during the first meeting. We will need, a Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. We also want think about Fund Raising ideas. We also want to put the printing and selling date into consideration. Our best bet would be to sell during Club Rush on I believe week 6 if not i'm sure I can arrange a day and time later in the quarter to do so. Which brings me to my next objective: Club Rush, I will be attending and I need someone or someones to participate as well. It will be Thursday October 8th which is in week 1. Well, I can't wait to see all of you at our first meeting!

Prepare For The Storm

Be ready, since this between quarter break is only a week and we have classes to worry about, now is the time to start the ideation. Come up with your story, Be sure of the style you want to draw, or even just come up with characters, whatever you feel will help you and the rest of us in creating our graphic novels. Decide what it is you want to do in the club, write, draw, ink, etc. maybe you're multi-talented and want to do more than one of these. either way, time will go by fast.

Getting Started

I thought it would be a good idea to let everyone know the thoughts I had for the Club. All ideas are very welcome, we will all have say in how things work and the way things are run in GN Club. My main idea was to create a "Heavy Metal" type of book, if you aren't familiar with that magazine, I wanted to have a compilation of short stories that will be illustrated, either traditionally or using the computer. I thought getting into teams or groups to work on each story would be a good idea. Then after all the magic is done we'll "publish" the book and sell them at the school, and of course the money made will go right back into the next issue's publishing. I would love to hear everyones ideas, we can share them on our first meeting or reply to this post if you want your voice heard earlier.
